About the partner

Avinor is responsible for planning, developing and operating the Norwegian airport network and operates 46 airports in Norway, thereof 12 in cooperation with the armed forces.

Avinor continuously works towards limiting environmentally harmful emissions to air/ ground and towards reducing aircraft noise. Company is wholly-owned by state (Ministry of Transport and Communications). Oslo Lufthavn AS is wholly-owned subsidiary.

Role in the project

Avinor brings in experiences/ know-how in terms of ecological impact of air transport, PAX market potential analysis. Through BALTIC BIRD, Avinor aims at strengthening tourism destination development in Northern Norway, by building common tourism brand Northern Light Airports for 9 airports located in the counties Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, and on the island territory of Svalbard. The airports are: Bodø, Andøya, Evenes (Nordland), Tromsø, Bardufoss (Troms), Alta, Lakselv, Kirkenes (Finnmark), and Longyearbyen (Svalbard).
